On Tuesday 1 June Olli Mustonen joined us at the Academy and presented a masterclass for the musicians of the Academy.  He took time out of his busy schedule (by busy, we mean performing a Tchaikovsky piano concerto with MSO!) to offer insight and advice to our students.  It became extra special (and some would say enlightening) when the Academy programmed the students to actually play Mustonen’s own compositions for him.  It is not often that musicians perform a composer’s works for the actual composer!

The works performed for this masterclass included; Toccata (1989),  Cello Sonata (2006) and Nonet II (2000).
