The great Russian pianist and head of Piano studies at Yale University, Boris Berman, was the director of this years Piano! Festival.
Boris spent a week at the Academy performing (a beautiful rendition of both books of Debussy’s Preludes – ‘Fireworks’ was amazing), teaching, conducting masterclasses and giving lots and lots of great piano advice.
Boris, a Grammy nominee, is one of the most sort-after keyboard performers, as well as one of the most influential musical personalities. In the field of recordings, Boris’ releases include all piano sonatas by Scriabin, complete works of Schnittke for solo piano, recitals of works by Shostakovich, Debussy, Stravinsky and Joplin.
It is also important to mention Boris’ stellar collection of jumpers and sweaters.
